The Shire, in conjunction with the State Government, have posted a press release dated April 10 on the murrindindi website murrindindi.vic.gov.au This release deals with the agreement to form a new section 86 committee.
Section 86 committees are formed under the Local Government Act 1989 and are used to manage such things as public halls, reserves, playgrounds etc. They allow for (usually unpaid) local representation, plus council and other advisory body representation. Committee members are appointed by the council and are reviewed within 12 months of any general election.
